Hi Martin,
Thank you for the quick reply!
I understand that this is different but was wondering if there was a similar style list of equivalent qualifications?
Using Key Skills as an example:
- Would this be equivalent to FS L2 and therefore meet the condition of funding for 16-19 year olds on a study programme?
- For AEB, is it only GCSE that affects the legal entitlement? What if they have a level 2 FS or equivalent?

English and Math equivalent qualifications
Created
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction for this.
The ESFA publish a list of approved English and Maths exemptions and equivalent qualifications for apprenticeships found on the following: English and maths requirements in apprenticeship standards at level 2 and above - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Is there something similar for Adult education courses and study programmes? I've looked through the guidance and can't seem to find anything definitive. For example, a learner with a L2 Key Skills certificate in Literacy or Numeracy would be exempt from English or Maths for Apprenticeships so would this mean they would not be eligible for funding on a level 2 AEB English/Maths course?
Thank you!
