Employer Liability Insurance document

Created

Hi,

As part of our onboarding process, we collect employer's Liability Insurance documents - Please can someone advise whether or not we need to collect new Liability Insurance documents each year?

Thanks,

Claire

There is something in the ESFA Condition of Grant document which references Health and Safety responsibilities. I remember sending it our Head of Apprenticeships a while ago as our Sales team where convinced only ELI'S were needed and not full H&S forms. That might be a starting place for you?

As far as I know the rules no longer require this for Apprenticeships but other funding streams where work placements are used may still require this under safeguarding..

Hi Martin Why do you say this for Apprenticeships?

In the long distant past Providers followed HSE guidance for Apprenticeship employer H&S monitoring and this included confirming details of the employers liability insurance.

However, this requirement is not included in the funding rules or guidance and the current advice from the HSE is:

The employer has the primary responsibility for the health and safety of the apprentice and should be managing any significant risks.  As the training provider, you should take reasonable steps to satisfy yourself that the employer is doing this. This does not mean trying to second guess an employer’s risk assessment or risk control measures, and you are not required to carry out your own workplace assessment.
