Self Employed Low wage evidence
Created
Hi. When claiming AEB funding under the low wage exemption what kind of evidence have you asked for for self-employed learners?
The funding rules state payslips from last 3 months or employment contract. A self employed person wouldn't necessarily have this and in many cases only has an annual tax return to show what they earnt in the last tax year - this is only produced in April so at this point of the year in March it is really out of date.
Any thoughts or advise based on what you've seen in the past would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure we've had it confirmed that last year's tax return is fine for self-employed learners.
The funding rules definitely say that the examples given are not an exhaustive list, let's put it that way.
