OTJ hours and Covid

Created

None

We have a number of nursing apprentices who are struggling to maintain the required OTJ hours due to not being able to access certain wards for COVID. I am therefore being asked to look at extending the end date to allow for the additional time to be made up. They are not taking a BIL though and the learning element is continuing.

Has anyone come across this? Are there any exceptional circumstances by which an end date can be changed without a BIL being necessary?

Kind regards

Gill

As you cannot change the end date on the ILR the alternative is to agree with the employer and update the commitment statement with a revised planned end date.

There is no timely achievement for Apprenticeships reported in the QAR and a BIL is not relevant, this is the only option and is the same as for any apprentice who exceeds their planned end date.

Thanks Martin.

These are difficult times for Nursing apprentices.
