Apprentice annual holiday - part time & term time only worker

Created

We need to calculate annual holiday for an apprentice who works less than 30 hours per week, & only in term time.

What figures do we need to work this out, and how do we then calculate it?

I'm thinking it's not as straight forward as using the .gov leave calculator for a part-time worker, as there are built-in stretches of unpaid leave as well as the paid leave they are owed.

Hi Becky

Yeah, TTO learners are a pain! Basically you need to average out their weekly hours *as though* they worked all year to work out their total part-timeness. This will, of course, increase their minimum duration, sometimes to the point where you might have questions about offering to them if they have to do a four year app!

Here's my TTO calculator (caveat emptor, no implied liability, use at own risk etcetc):

Thank you very much, Steve. That's incredibly helpful.

I'm reassured that I wasn't incorrect in thinking it was complicated!
