Employer Identifier not recognised

Just submitted the ILR for Period 8 and we're getting errors to say "Employer Identifier is wrong. We can't find the number you've provided on our system" for learners that we've had no problem with all year.   Does anyone have any advice?  Thanks

There is a note on the SLD site, see below :) 

We have identified that some invalid Employer Identifiers have been incorrectly passing validation, this issue will be resolved during R08 so we are asking that you ensure the employer IDs you are including in your ILR submissions are valid on the Employer Data Service website. Please contact the Service Desk if you have any queries in relation to this.

Thank you for the response - however, I'm getting this error on one of our learners and the ERN was set up by the EDRS in August - I've checked this and the details are correct. Have items recently been removed from the data service list?

Hi Jim,

I'm not sure? I'm just waiting for my admin team to update me after checking our errors. If mine appear correct via the EDS then I will personally be calling the service desk to see what the latest is. I will update on here if In have anything to report back :)

Just checked ours - previously there were no issues with the numbers.  One company was bought out by another and now those sites are no longer approved, but learners completed before the buy out.  Have emailed the service desk ...

Thanks for your post. That's very interesting! So it may be that the new errors relate to old data? I'll let you know how we get on!

Hi all - I raised a query on my issue and apparently some ERNs have been wiped from the system (I asked how many but they weren't able to advise on that).

If you are getting this error, contact helpdesk@edrs.education.gov.uk with the ERN and company details and they'll pass it on to the team who are dealing with this.

Do NOT simply submit a new ERN request as that will cause problems when they rebuild the data.

Thanks Jim - I just got a reply to say there were investigating it.  Will email EDRS now.

The data source for the EDRS data has changed from using an offline copy of their database to live lookups. Therefore, there is now no difference between the online EDRS service and the ILR EDRS validation.

Hi all,

I have 4 errors, but all EDRN's are correct and valid so have also emailed the helpdesk

Morning, FYI - I have received an email to say the EDRN database has been updated over the bank holiday and all errors should now have cleared. I have run a new report and yes, all supposedly invalid EDRN's are now valid again :)
