Data retention policy & audit
Edited
Hi everyone,
What started as a simple exercise (creating a new form for employers to provide info for us to look up employer ID numbers) has thrown up a couple of questions.
We're collecting data (address, number of employees etc.) from employers and was wondering how long we should hold the information for. Once we have the employer ID from the EDRS we no longer need the data operationally, but I assume an auditor "could" ask us to verify how we found that number.
Does anyone have any suggestions / experience on this - ultimately my question is how long should we retain this data? (Could an auditor as about an apprentice who completed 5 years ago for example)?
Any thoughts about data more generally (I apprentice that employer ID details are quite mundane compared to other data), how long this should be retained for etc. would also be welcome.
Thanks,
Martin
