Register to take part in FE data and enrolment research

Pinned
The DfE is starting a new user research project with further education (FE) providers across England.
We want to hear from a wide range of providers across the sector to understand how learner enrolment and attendance data is recorded, managed and used.
This includes anyone involved in:
enrolment and admission data
attendance tracking
management information systems (MIS)
data reporting and analysis
What to expect
The research will involve a one-to-one interview on Microsoft Teams lasting up to 60 minutes and will take place between 13 July and 8 August 2026.
Why this research matters
This project is a part of the DfE’s wider plan to build a skill system that breaks down barriers to opportunity and supports young people to stay in education and training.
Specifically, this work aligns with commitments in the Post-16 Education andSkills White Paper to better identify and support young people who are at risk of becoming NEET (not ineducation, employment or training).
By understanding how colleges currently track student attendance, we can find better ways to help providers intervene early when a student’s attendance begins to decline.
How to get involved
If you would like to share your experiences and help improve these systems, register your interest. If you know a colleague who would be ideal for this research, please forward this post to them.
