A colleague suggested that if we exempted for year 1, then registered for a qualification in the second year, it may appear suspect? I sincerly hoped not as we would/have only done that in the best interest of the learners progression over time. If a learner was exempted would it be possible to enrol on a non funded course in Functional Skills such as City and Guilds Level 1 award in Mathematics/English themed qualifications for that year?

I mean, it's highly unlikely that the previous year would be looked at anyway BUT that's not really important! Would always do what's best for the learner.
I'm trying to think if there's a Validation Rule that pings if you flag someone as exempt *and then also* put them on a CoF compliant qual like FS and I'm fairly sure the answer is no? But then why have the Exempt flag in? Better for your percentages to have people on compliant quals counting!

Exemption for CoF for EHCP holders

Hi all,
We deal with often complex disability at our college and all learners have EHCPs. Some of our learners cannot accept the demands of maths and/or English during their programme and they need to be made exempt. FS is of course incorporated/embedded into the rest of their time with us, but it is RARPAed. All learners naturally have a baseline aswell.
Can a learner be exempt for one academic year and enrolled once they gain more confidence, potentially in year 2, for Functional Skills stepping stone qualifications?
