R146 Error - Apprenticeship and ASF

Created

Hi. Has anyone encountered the R146 error yet - the learner is currently apprenticeship funded and cannot start an Adult Skills funded English/maths aim?

We have an apprentice who has has enrolled onto an ASF functional skills English aim in the past week, causing the R146 error. The guidance in 57.2 of the Apps funding rules has been followed.

On raising a query with the helpdesk as to why this is an error, given the policy change this year, they have told us that ''the ILR and Policy teams are still in discussions regarding this matter'' and that the error will ''remain in place until a formal decision has been agreed and ratified''.

Their advice is that ''it is at our discretion whether we choose to retain the error in our data or temporarily remove the aim''.

I think we are compliant with the funding rules as they are currently written but would be interested to know if anyone has a different opinion. Thanks

Yup, saw this pop up the other week and raised it.

You *are* compliant with the Funding Rules as written, it's just the Validation Rules taking time to catch up for some reason. Usually in these circs they switch it to a warning, unsure why that doesn't seem to be an option here.

What I'm trying to work out is if the whole learner will be considered in error or just the FS aim (haven't got one to hand to try with unfortunately). If it's just the FS aim, then it is what it is and you'd be better off leaving it in so they know it's a problem (and the money will turn up eventually) but if it's the whole learner then I'd be taking the FS aim out for R03 (again, the money will turn up once you can put it in without an error).

Thanks Steve. We're not receiving the funding on either apprenticeship or the FS aim whilst we've got the error, so it's not ideal! We'll look at alternative options whilst we only have 1 in this scenario.

Yeah, just take the FS out for R03 then, no problem to pop it back in next month.
