OTJ hours on documents after employer change

Created

None

Where a learner changes employer (with no gap in employment so it's not a restart), I know that you don't change the Planned Hours on the ILR.

However, we do of course need to issue a new Commitment Statement and Apprenticeship Agreement. When it comes to entering the dates minimum OTJ requirement on these docs, I've been spelling out the detail about the entire apprenticeship including time with the previous employer i.e.

Start date of apprenticeship:  1st Jan 2020 (with previous employer), 1st July 2021 (with current employer)

Planned amount of off-the-job training (hours): 800 hours over duration of apprenticeship (including time with previous employer)

I'd be interested to know how others are handling this? Thanks in advance!

I think I'd want to be explicit about how many hours it was with the new employer *as well*? Particularly if it's in any way front/back weighted? Then everyone knows where they stand and exactly what they're signing up for.

I think the key thing I've learnt over the last four years is the more information we give the employer at the beginning, the better!
