Apprenticeship - EEA nationals - see evidence or not ?

Edited

None

HI,

The apprenticeship funding guide, clarification version does not state if we are required to 'see evidence ' of the apprentices pre-settled / settled status.  As the guidance does not specify this are we permitted to have this as a self declaration from the apprentice?

Clarification would be most helpful.

Actually just read this, so this is suggesting to me that we do need to see evidence ?

We have taken the decision to ask the apprentice to generate a share code to check the immigration status website and then we tick box exercise and sign our application pack to say we've checked. We're not saving anything down for GDPR reasons.

Hi Melanie,

Think that is the most sensible option, and pleased you replied as such because I had already decided to do it.  (unless anyone from the ESFA comes back and say it is not necessary)

Cheers

Hi I raised this with the service desk and their reply was below. The code is not valid after 30 days so unless you take a screen shot I don't think its possible to evidence you have actually checked this. We are going to though as part of onboarding.

Providers need to check the status of the learner at the point of enrolment under EUSS, using the links that you have referred to in your email.
If the learner does not have pre-settled or settled status at the time of enrolment they would not be eligible for funding.

We do not specify what evidence is required but it must demonstrate your decision to claim funding for the learner.

HI Simon, Thanks for your input.

I was aware that the code expires after 30 days, so we will also be taking a screen shot as supporting evidence.

Should keep the auditors happy !

Cheers Debbie
