residency eligibility

Created

None

hi folks.

I've got a potential student (Russian) who has only been in the UK 2 years, no settled status and Russia isn't on any EU/EEA list so am I correct in thinking they are NOT fundable? Based on Russia not being an eligible country for the 3 years in the UK/EEA proviso?

TIA

They have to have been in the UK for 3 years for any of the non UK-national criteria.

Unless they have an eligible family member or 3 year exemption status, they wouldn't be eligible.

You should check their immigration status and funding rules as this may give exemption from 3 year residency..

As I thought - thank you for confirming Melissa!

Martin - under what circumstance would they be exempt from 3 yrs?

Eligible family members are now three years as well!

But, yes, if they've got DLE/R, ELE/R, Refugee status etc they'd be eligible immediately.

none of the above I'm afraid, so going back to my original qualifying statement - not eligible!

Thanks all
