The funding rules require:
If, at the beginning of the programme, the apprentice works fewer than 30 hours a week you must extend the expected duration of the apprenticeship on the ILR (pro rata) to take account of this.
Where a part-time working pattern is needed, you must agree with the employer and the apprentice the extended apprenticeship duration.
I don’t think it can be any clearer.

Can i ask that if an apprentice starts their apprenticeship working more than 30 hours a week, goes on a BIL due to maternity leave, then returns to their employment but is going to work part time hours (26 hours a week) does the programme duration left need to be recalculated?
The funding rules state: at the beginning of the programme - so does this mean that the duration at the start of the programme remains the same when they worked over 30 hours?

Part-time hours Duration
Edited
Hi all,
Could I please ask for some advice regarding minimum duration for part-time learners. I am familiar with the formula in the rules but I want to clarify if it it just applies to minimum duration or you must extend regardless?
Our programmes are approximately 3 years long and so already exceed minimum duration - should we be extending that further for part-time learners?
Many thanks in advance!
