AEB Funding Value

Created

None

Hello!

Does anybody know where I could find data relating to the average cost of AEB aims? I know there's quite a range of funding depending on the aim, so I'm just looking for a rough average.

Single Activity Matrix in the funding rates document gives you the full range of possible values.

Adult education budget (AEB): funding rates and formula 2021 to 2022 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

But I'm not sure how useful that is for finding an average?

if you want to know *your* average, I'd use the occupancy report from SLD and average the total column!

See https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/adult-education-budget-aeb-funding-rates-and-formula-2021-to-2022

From page 9 and see tables 1 and 2 on page 11

Annual funding cap

  1. An annual funding cap applies to each learner for each funding year across all ESFA funded AEB provision and devolved AEB provision.
  2. The annual funding cap is £4,400 for each learner each year, before we apply any weightings or calculate government contributions. If your planned training provision is above this cap, we will reduce your earnings in line with this.

Thank you, Martin.

The £4,400 cap is useful to consider.

I'm looking if there's an average amount a learner may receive in AEB funding. I know this won't be exact, but something as a rough average would be a start. Do you know if this published anywhere? I know they publish a lot of apprenticeship data on the 'explore education statistics' but I can't seem to find similar for AEB specifically.

The only available source I have found is from the College accounts published each year (last 2019/20) which indicated an average of £4600 and £1039 for 16-18 (EFA) and 19+ (AEB) learners respectively.

Interesting, thanks Martin!
