Functional Skills Exemptions

Created

None

I'm looking for some guidance on a scenario I can't find covered in any published docs (please point me in the right direction if it is!) regarding FS.

If a learner starts the apprenticeship with no FS exemptions (no certs, no PLR, etc) and the provider starts to deliver the FS for a few months, what would happen if the learner suddenly finds exemption certificates? Would the provider need to fully withdraw the FS aims and pay back the money? Or could they keep it for learning delivered to date?

It is accepted (although not published) by the ESFA that you can deliver FS and claim funding up to the date that exemption is evidenced if you have followed the guidance and that this is not down to shortcomings in your systems for obtaining and evidencing the exemption.

Evidence Pack

This also includes evidence of prior attainment for English and maths. This evidence could include the following:

P368.3.1 information from the apprentice’s personal learning record, where this information is unavailable, or an apprentice is unable to provide evidence of prior attainment please refer to get a replacement exam certificate on GOV.UK.
