Hi,
We're in a similar situation in that we've identified learners with ALN etc. before enrolling but if we extend their programme we'd also need them to log extra OTJ hours for that extended period.
Also we'd then have learners on programme with the same amount of funding attached but with longer programme durations which would show on the PDSAT.
Is it better to keep learners on the same duration but increase support witin this time frame or extend the programme and OTJ?
Thanks :)
You have no option but to keep the Apprentice on the original duration as the ILR planned end date must not be changed even where the provider has identified a learning difficulty or disability after the start date. However, where there is an identified support need that require reasonable adjustments in order to be able to complete the apprenticeship you can provide support and claim ALS.
Where DSAT reports learners on programme with the same amount of funding attached but with longer programme durations it is only any wide variations where auditors would expect the Provider to justify this as it would be normal for there to be some variation between the typical duration indicated in the Standard as an individual’s duration should be based on the initial assessment of the learner prior to the start.

Hi Martin,
Apologies i didn't explain very well, I meant if we'd identified before they'd gone live in the ILR so we'd still be able to adjust the programme length.
Brilliant, I thought that would be the case but didn't want it to flag as an issue on the PDSAT.
Thank you for your help.

Learning planned end date extension
Created
Hi, hope you can help with my query: we have an Apprentice enrolled in September who has just declared SEN needs now and requires additional time on the programme. I do realize that that the funding rules forbid us from changing the end date but this is a genuine situation and I think we should prioritize the learner's needs. The Data Management Principles states that "it is more important to correct inaccurate data than to not change fields".
Am I right to think we are ok to extend the Learning planned end date in this instance?
Many thanks!
