Error R97 - Help

Error R97 -  'Learner employment status' records are wrong. The learner can't have a record that features the same 'employment status', 'employer identifier', 'agreement identifier' and 'employment status monitoring' as the record before it. Check 'learner employment status' records are correct.

We are in the process of moving to a new MIS platform. Currently 2 of our 5 delivery programmes are built on the new MIS system and 2 of our learners originally started their apprenticeship on the new platform. As their programme then changed to a programme only currently built on our original platform they now have 2 separate learner records. I have already changed the learner reference number to their original learner record but now i am receiving this error.

I can't work out what i must do to get this error gone. Our ILR Merge tool also rejects one of the 2 learners whereas the other learner gives the R97 error. They are both in the same state.

Hi Adam, did you manage to resolve this? I am experiencing R97 for an AEB learner and can't figure out why...

Unfortunately the ESFA's response was less than helpful on this. My first response from them was

"You need at least one employment status for the learner when I checked your data submission you had a duplicate consecutive employment status.

You will need to remove one of the employment status to clear the error, if you are having difficulties removing one of the employment status please contact your MIS direct."

Followed by this after i made them aware a status had to be in place on each MIS system.

"It is outside our remit regarding how to record the employment statuses on your 2 separate MIS for your learner.

Please contact your MIS providers for further information. Can both be recorded with the same date status applies (earliest date) on the MIS you use?"

In the end we simply withdrew them off our first MIS system and claimed no funding from day one as it was part of the same month. Probably not much help to you.

Best of luck.
