Initial Assessments for Apprenticeship

Created

None

Hi there,

We have some learners who have completed a short course of 4 weeks for which we did initial assessments - maths & English weren't imbedded into this and they have now gone onto apprenticeships.  Do we need to conduct IAs again or can we use these ones as evidence?

Thanks, Christine

Did you mean Judgement of an apprentice’s current level for Maths/English?

If so then then if this was in line with the following it should be OK.

P146 If an apprentice does not have acceptable evidence of previous attainment of English and / or maths you must carry out a judgement of their current level. You must use current assessment tools based on the national literacy and numeracy standards and core curriculum or DFE published English and maths Functional Skills subject content.

Hi Martin,

Yes it's their current level, even though they completed the IAs for another short course.

Thanks, Christine
