What start date should be applied to a BIL, specifically what do we show on their ILR as being the start day for the BIL (when they inform us?):

Hi. We tend to use the date it was first communicated or the date of their last day of engagement on the programme depending which is most appropriate/ accurate. Thanks

The last day in learning including OTJ, see the clarification in the 22/23 rules.

P32.2 The apprentice must be involved in active learning (off-the-job training and / or English and maths) throughout the apprenticeship, from the learning start date to the learning actual end date (i.e. the practical period). Active learning must take place at least every 4 weeks (or a break in learning must be used).

P45.3.2 A break in learning must be used where there is no evidence of learning for 4 weeks. This can be with or without a break from work (see paragraphs P256 to P259).
