All I can say is people have been audited using electronic signatures for over a decade now, so an auditor shouldn't be surprised to see them in use. Due to luck more than judgement, I've not personally had an audit that's looked at them, but any sort of system that requires a log in linked to an identifiable email address should be fine.
Thanks for your reply Steve. That would be the ultimate goal! It's very time consuming getting actual signatures on these reviews at present. I'm so looking forward to a modernised system! Would be very interested to see what software others use for their progress reviews if anyone's willing to share.
Signing of progress reviews is a bit of an issue in the nursing apprenticeships. I'd be interested to know what different approaches folks are taking to capture signatures and different electronic signatures being used. We don't have the luxury of always being physically present due to Covid restrictions on visiting hospitals and thus the signatures can be a chasing game. Emma Orr I saw your question above and wondered if you had found anything helpful.
I know what you mean Ian! We're looking to move to an online system with multiple secure user log ons and interaction via these. We recently paid for a mock audit and they seem to think this will be sufficient. It wouldn't be enough just to have a log-in date stamp, the reviews would need to be commented on by the different parties (as I understand it).
We have up until now been getting signatures on reviews via an electronic signature pad which all just seems a bit old school!
I honestly don't know how colleges manage this.
Emma Orr.. It is a bit of a nightmare. My institution seem reluctant to adopt adobe sign, similarly with DocuSign. Using word seems cumbersome as the employer representative could change at last moment depending on availability etc. Similarly the organisations themselves wont use these because of cybersecurity issues due to the nature of the work.

Signatures at Progress Reviews
Created
Hi All
I'm just reading the Draft Funding Rules for 22-23 and the new section for Progress Reviews.
We're updating our systems here and hoping to introduce something with a more flexible "electronic signature". The Rules mention check boxes etc. being acceptable as a digital alternative.
Can I ask how everyone is currently obtaining their electronic signatures and what the format of these are (especially where you don't necessarily use a traditional signature but a wider system like check boxes/date stamps upon access etc.?)
Have you been audited on these?
I'm itching to get away from old fashion techniques and start using some modern technology!!
