ITQ Level 2 funding

Created

None

In April, the DfE announced that a range of ICT qualifications at Level 2, including ITQ, would cease to be funded from the end of the current academic year (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/level-2-ict-qualifications-removed-funding-from-1-august-2022). However, the Find A Learning Aim site is now showing these qualifications as being AEB Skills funded for next year. Which is correct? Have the DfE reversed their original decision?

We were confused by this too.  One of our awarding bodies has questioned it with the ESFA and apparently they have just come back to say that "we should also be looking in the category tab, which will reflect the code for ‘Local Flexibility’ being affected".

“………The way to identify this is by looking at adult skills validity and the category codes.  When looking at the category codes you will see that the qualification is only available in the local flexibility offer to 31 July 2022.  For devolved AEB MCA/GLA make the decision on what to deliver as part of AEB this is why the category codes for MCA/GLA have not been shut down”.

I was going to ask a very similar question. There will be a big gap in provision especially at L2 based on the list of IT qualifications having funding removed (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/free-qualifications-for-adults-with-low-digital-skills).

I had hoped for a year's extension for FS ICT until FSQs come online in Aug. 23. We are looking for alternatives, possibly ICDL?

Wondering if anyone has any updates on this? It looks like funding for L2 IT qualifications was extended until Nov 2022 but now not fundable at all?
