P41.2 - OTJ training.

41.2 states that OTJ can include: Practical training, shadowing, mentoring, industry visits and participation in competitions, where the activity has been agreed and documented as part of the agreed training plan; I'm looking for clarity on this. Our learners are on the L3 Gas Engineering Operative standard and as such have always logged OTJ hours for attending trade shows, shadowing at work etc in their e-portfolio. It is difficult to say at the beginning of the apprenticeship, when first issuing the training plan (commitment statement) how many hours will be spent on this type of OTJ training because there is no way of knowing in advance if there are going to be trade shows available for the apprentice to attend, and how long they will attend for etc. The same with shadowing at work, this is done ad hoc when the occasion arises in certain circumstances. How is this meant to be done, is it a case of amending the training plan retrospectively if they attend a trade show?
