Minimum Duration calculation

Created

Hi,

We have a Level 3 Apprentice who works 12 hours a week. Typically our Level 3 programme is delivered over 18 months, however as per the rules, the minimum duration for any apprenticeship is only 12 months; so to work out the new duration, which calculation would be correct?

  • P36.1.1     12 x 30 / 12 = 30 months new minimum duration

  • 18 x 30 / 12 = 45 months new minimum duration

We are unsure whether the '12' in the guidance calculation has to be changed depending on our usual programme duration.

Any help would be much appreciated!

The formula is only for calculating the new minimum duration

12 x 30 / average weekly hours = new minimum duration in months

So, it would be 12 x 30/ 12 = 30 months

However, if you want to calculate the extended duration for your 18 month standard delivery your calculation of 45 months would be correct.
