Asylum Seekers Proof of Eligibility

Created

Hello All,

Here in Cumbria we're seeing increased numbers of asylum seekers enquiring about enrolling onto our provision. What documents are providers accepting as proof of eligibility?

Many thanks in advance for your response.

Thanks Martin.

That is my understanding also although I've heard of other providers accepting the Bail 201?

Kelly Knights

We ask for both as some can have study prohibited which may be referenced on the Bail letter.

Steve Hewitt

Yes, the ARC is the classic, but I'm hearing there have been some situations where it's taken a while. Bail letter also acceptable, and, if they have neither, anything from the Home Office with their date of arrival on or, absolute worst case, a letter from a solicitor confirming their dates.

Many thanks for everyone's views.

Based on Steve Hewitt's feedback, we are looking to accept learners having seen evidence based on the following hierarchy:

  • ARC.
  • Bail 201.
  • Any other Home Office correspondence stating the date of arrival.

We have recently seen a number of potential learners present with a Section 95, is this also valid form of evidence to accept learners onto AEB?

Also, are providers fixed by the 6 month rule or flexible if provision starts within a few days of their eligibility date?
