Apprentice made redundant while on a BIL

Hi,

We have an apprentice who went on a BIL in January and the employer has now gone into administration.  Will she now need to be recorded as a withdrawal and if she wants to continue with another employer, we restart her?

Thanks, Christine

No, on return from BIL can be recorded as unemployed due to redundancy until she finds a new employer (see funding rules section on redundancy).

The learner is still on a BIL, so can we still record her employment status as being redundant?

You can wait until the learner returns from the BIL and restarts learning under the redundancy rules or with a new employer where they have found one.

You could withdraw the learner as you would do if they do not return from a BIL but this will have a detrimental effect on the QAR as they will be counted twice when they restart.
