Minimum Apprenticeship Wage

Looking for some advice here please.
We have an apprentice (16 years old) who withdrew from the programme after 6 months. Four months later, she has gone back to the same employer and wishes to re-start her apprenticeship. The question is, in regards to the minimum apprenticeship wage for the first year of the programme, is it now reset so a new 12 month period starts or should the employer factor in the original 6 months already done.
It's the same standard etc, in effect, there has just been a gap in the apprenticeship. The original employment contract the apprentice had with the employer was terminated when they left after six months, so our thinking here is that (although morally it's probably not right) as there would be a new contract of employment, the 12 months starts afresh. Would the employer be right to do this?
Thanks

The apprenticeship rate is applicable for those on an apprenticeship aged under 19 years of ageor if they are in their first year of the apprenticeship.
