Planned Hours- is this individual or the hours for all?

Edited

None

Hi I am just in the process of registering apprentices. The minimum off the job using the 22/23 guidance is 444 hours. If I look at the standard, I worked out that it is 848 hours to train in the skills, knolwedge and behaviours. Therefore do I use the minimum figure calculated with the guidance, or the figure based on what I think an apprentice requires around the standard content???

Thank you for your query regarding recognised prior learning (RPL) and off the job (OTJ) training calculations.

For apprentices that have RPL, you will need to calculate this as per the new guidelines in the 2022/2023 main provider funding rules as you have mentioned.

This gives you the new duration for the apprenticeship and you would base the OTJ training calculation on this new duration.

If the duration was reduced from 24months to 18 months based upon the RPL, you would need to calculate the OTJ training hours for the new 18 month duration using the formula provided in the funding rules. This formula calculates the minimum amount of OTJ hours required.

Where you account for prior learning and experience and the reduction of content would mean that the apprenticeship would fail to meet either the minimum duration requirement or the minimum off-the-job training requirement, the apprenticeship is not eligible for funding.

If you have any further questions, please raise a query with the apprenticeship service helpdesk.
