Functional Skills Funding for Apprenticeships

Created

Good afternoon,

I have a learner enrolled on an intermediate apprenticeship; they have a grade 3 in GCSE so exempt from FS level 1. If we were to put them through Level 2 FS, would we get funding? I know the requirements for intermediate apprenticeships is level 1 FS so unsure if we would get funding for something that is not a requirement of the course.

Thank you, Chantelle

P137 We will fund an apprentice to achieve up to an approved level 2 qualification in English and maths where they do not already hold a suitable equivalent qualification. Acceptable equivalents are set out in a published list on GOV.UK called ‘Acceptable current and prior equivalent qualifications for English and maths minimum requirements in apprenticeship standards at level 2 and above’.

As they have grade 3 this is the Minimum acceptable grade for L2 so would not be funded.
