Dates of Signatures

Created

None

Good morning all,

I have reviewed the guidance on signatures at start date and have always followed the principle that signatures on all documentation at the start of apprenticeship should be completed on or before the actual start date, not after.

Am I right in thinking this? As someone is questioning it and thinking apprentices are able to sign paperwork following start date.

TIA - Terry

Hi Terry

The Apprenticeship Agreement absolutely, categorically must be dated before they start (for every person signing it), because it is an audit error if it isn't, and the auditor will make you change the ILR start date to match the paperwork (which is tricky if you're running 365 day apps...).

It's certainly best practise for everything else to be dated before start, but under a week after in the same month would be a tap on the wrist. Anything more than that and eyebrows would start to be raised...
