Eng Tech Machininst to new Machining Tech Standard

We have had a couple of employers asking whether they would be able to transfer their apprentices currently signed up to the Engineering Technician Standard (possibly been on programme 12+ months) to the newly available Machining Technician Standard - does anyone know whether this would be possible?
I am aware that if an apprentice's job role changes then we can transfer them to a more suitable standard but not sure on this occasion with it being the same role.
