Study Programme ILR change of Qual after 6 weeks

Created

Hi, we have a learner who started at the beginning of September 2022 on study programme and has changed her vocational qualification from November 2022 as she didn't like the one she was doing.  Am I correct in saying I can amend this on the ILR but I cannot alter any planned hour or dates as she has been on programme for over 6 weeks.  Kind regards, Helen.

This is a transfer. So, it's perfectly reasonable to change the hours to match the new programme (take the hours they've done so far then the remaining hours on the new programme).

Out of interest, how are you changing this on the ILR? We had a number of learners transfer from a Diploma to Extended Diploma last year and did this by creating a second POT, but I'm intrigued to see whether there is an easier way of doing this. Thanks

I'm unsure what a POT is in this situation, but you have to record both learning aims in your ILR, the original one and the one they're transferring to (the only exception would be if it was an error in-year and they were always meant to be on the Ext Dip, at which point you'd "just" change the Learning Aim (although, depending on which system you're using this isn't necessarily easier!)).

Apologies, POT = period of training (we use Maytas). With the Dip/Ext Dip being the main aim for our learners we've always assumed that we'd have to end that period of training and start a new one for the new qualification, which then creates further work with any functional skills they may be completing. I was hopeful that there may have been an easier solution but based on your previous response I think we're doing it right as we are. Thanks for getting back to me.
