It's highly unlikely they'll be fundable with that kind of visa if they haven't been here for three years. The main loophole is if they are the Family Member of an EU citizen with Pre/Settled Status who has been here three years (almost a tautology as anyone with Settled must have been here 5 years). NB this is only for EU citizens, not UK citizens.

Hi, I have an applicant who will be on a course with us for over 3 years. They have a residence permit with a status os leave to remain with study permitted and restricted work .... it was issued on 16/08/2021 and runs out on 31/12/2024.
As they ahve not be resident for 3 years prior to applying and checking through the rules I don't believe theya re able to complete an apprenticeship and would just like confirmation that I am on the right path.
