Seems a bit weird to me. I suppose there becomes a point where as a training provider you have to take a decision of whether to withdraw them or not if they seem not to have an intention to sit the EPA. However I wouldn't think this should be an automatic fail unless an EPA plan specifically says so.

EPAO - automatic fail after time lapse
Edited
Morning everyone on this snowy and chilly January morning!
Has anyone come across this before?
In line with ESFA requirements, **EPAO** is undergoing a review of all apprentice records to ensure that we report to our regulators any apprentice who has not passed their End-Point Assessment within the timescales stated/recommended within the assessment plan, or if the assessment plan does not stipulate a timescale then this will be within six months of their Gateway date.
Any apprentices who have completed Gateway but not passed the required assessment activities will now have their status changed within ***EPAO's*** system, a Fail grade reported to the ESFA, and any relevant fee invoiced accordingly.
I've scoured regs and guidance and contacted another EPAO to see if it is something they are familiar with no luck at all. Have I missed something?
