EPAO Achievement Date

Created

None

Hi All,

I hope someone can help, we work with a few different EPAO’s for the same qualification and their process for EPA is different e.g. the learners have to do 2 interviews and one does them both on the same day, and the other on 2 separate days, when we get the final grade report they have different dates on them due to this for us to use for the achievement date on the ILR.

The EPAO who does the interviews on the same day puts this date on the grading report and we use this for the achievement date in the ILR, but the other EPAO we use for the same standard on their final grade report gives us the date of when they have released the grade.

We want to progress learners onto other qualifications, and want to know what people suggest, for the EPAO with three dates, can we use the date of the last interview rather than the grade release date, as this can be up to 10 working days after the last activity?

Thanks

Some use the date of the last EPA activity like the interview you mentioned (including myself), whereas some use the date the EPA grade was conveyed. Neither is 'wrong' per se, because the ESFA don't publish an explicit definition of what constitutes "end point assessment activities", making defining the end of the assessment period a little ambiguous. The key is to be consistent. If you've always done it a particular way, my advice is don't change it unless you're instructed to do so, especially if changing your normal process could be seen to benefit you in some way.

If we record the interview date as stated above and then progress the learner onto their next/higher level apprenticeship, but the learner ultimately fails EPAO, what is the process? Can the learner resit the EPAO whilst On Programme with their new apprenticeship?
