Thanks both. Yes I agree the transfers could present some problems with RPL. Working that out will be fun! Interesting that we can just change the standard code on the main learning aim (according to that guidance). What a shame that we can't do the same on the ZPROG! Haha!

I know what you mean Ian! We're looking to move to an online system with multiple secure user log ons and interaction via these. We recently paid for a mock audit and they seem to think this will be sufficient. It wouldn't be enough just to have a log-in date stamp, the reviews would need to be commented on by the different parties (as I understand it). We have up until now been getting signatures on reviews via an electronic signature pad which all just seems a bit old school! I honestly don't know how colleges manage this.

Thanks Ben!! I've had a good read through. Do you know whether we can go through Mock EPA assessments with the Apprentice during the practical period? I've read an area saying that Mock Tests are an ineligible cost but I've also read on the Apprenticeship Gateway guidance that we must "ensure that there is time for the apprentice to use any preparatory and practice materials provided by the EPAO" and our EPAO practice materials include Mock tests! We're just a little confused!

Thanks for your reply Steve. That would be the ultimate goal! It's very time consuming getting actual signatures on these reviews at present. I'm so looking forward to a modernised system! Would be very interested to see what software others use for their progress reviews if anyone's willing to share.

Also specifically we were curious as to whether the Level mattered, especially considering there are no other courses available at an equivallant or lower level that would be appropriate.

Thanks for your reply Martin. If we had done a thorough review of the units included in the proposed qualifiaction and deemed the entire content appropriate to satisy the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of the standard, would this suffice to satisy this as an elibile cost? We will of course ask the question of the ESFA also, we just wondered if anyone else had come accross a similar scenario and how this has been dealt with and we appreciate everyone's view on the matter,

Thanks Dan. That's really helpful. Always good to hear from someone that's been audited!

Hi Sue Our portfolios are not online (due to the type of training we do this woudl be very difficult) so we pull a selection of portfolios into our central office when requested for EQA, as well as holding some back after completion for this purpose. Auditors are able to see portfolios if we have any meetings on the day of their visit (though this is often unlikely as we are a national provider). At present all the relevant signed off the job sheets are copied into evidence packs that are held centrally but we're trying to cut down on the burden of having to constantly scan these over. A full online solution is not really availble for us at the moment with the type of work our Apprentices do, although I do appreciate how much easier this would be for auditing purposes! We're trying to work out what the exact evidence requirements are in order for us to fulfill this in the best possible way without the need to create too much of a "paperwork" burden on the Apprentice & Trainers. They do a lot of naturally occuring OTJT, but recording and evidencing is labourous at the moment. We would like to imporve that if we can.

I thought as much Steve! Is there a guidance document of sorts that reflects this? I can't say I've ever seen one since working in this role. I'm also wondering what an auditor would look for specifically so we can ensure we have everything covered!
