Is this learner eligible?

Created

None

Hello,

We have a student looking to enrol for our Level 6 Operating Department Practitioner standard, However, the potential student has a) A non-UK Bachelor's Degree with a UK equivalency statement b) The degree is in Teaching

Would this potential student be eligible for the Apprenticeship as they would be undertaking an Apprenticeship within  a different subject area to their current degree?

You'll only know that once you've done your skills scan. I couldn't say how much overlap there might be. It seems like there probably isn't a lot of overlap.

Agree with Ruth, but there's certainly no blanket ban on someone with a degree doing an L6 Apprenticeship, it's all about that skills scan.

Thanks guys,

This learner also has residency status (right to work) currently till April 2024. Would that need extending for the entire programme?

Steve Hewitt

Well yes, but they won't be able to until quite close to when it expires so, provided the learner convinces you they have every intention/right to stay, then it's fine to take them on and they can sort it out when they can.

Slightly loathe to ask, but they've been here three years, right? ;)

Zaheer Patel

Yep, she has been here for 15 years!
