Compliance Documents after BIL and OOF

Hi All,

We have an apprentice who went on a break in learning, at the time of this break in learning they had gone past their estimated practical end date and their planned end date.

They are now coming back and we have changed the practical end date in reflection of their BIL however this date is still in the past.

What do we do now?

What do we do on the ILR and what do we do with the compliance documents with regards her end dates? surely we cant keep the date that is in the past as this is not achieveable.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I don’t deal with the ILR side but I do know when a learner returns from a BIL you are expected to set a new planned end date, along with completing/updating their commitment statement and apprenticeship agreement.

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for responding.

I agree, what we normally do is add on the time they have lost on the BIL.

But in this case, the tie added isn't enough to see this learner through to the end of their practical period.

In not sure what we do here ?

Do you mean because they exceeded their planned end date?

We have always added the required time when the returned regardless of what time was left over from their previous course - for example a learner only had 3 months left from previous duration but they required a further 9 months of training. The only issue will be that you cant receive anything more in funding for delivering across a longer period.

Hi Kelly,

This is really helpfull.

How did you justify the amount of extra time in training required? was this based on any assessment or was is a guess/ estimate?

Thank you for you help.

The example I know of was based on delivery by one of our subcontractors. I believe they reviewed what the learner had completed prior to going on the BIL and what they had left to do before being ready to go through gateway.
