Level of highest qual unknown - international certificates

Hello

If an apprentice with international certificates doesn't know the level of their highest qualification, is it acceptable to enter code '97 - other qualification, level not known'? This code is appearing in the PDSAT.

Thanks

Hi Melissa,

Yes I would say so and we have used that code aswell, as we cant ascertain the correct level. We then annotate the PDSAT to give content to the code and hold the evidence of the overseas quals.

Many Thanks

Yes, more of a data quality issue if it was, say, every other learner, but if there's only a couple, not a problem. There's no intrinsic funding problem with it (anything like that would be picked up via skills scan these days anyway, even if you knew exactly what the qual was).

We have a lot of students whose highest qual was overseas (non-apprentices mostly). Do most providers just leave them all as 97? Obviously we can't claim any legal entitlements or FCFJ funding based on prior level for those students.

OfS were adamant that the similar QUALENT3 shouldn't be left as X04 (equivalent to 97) for students with overseas quals, and we had to check ENIC for equivalence (and insisted we provide evidence of whatever we put in QUALENT3).
