You should not be returning any aim - non-accredited or otherwise that is not actual teaching and learning especially across academic years.
IMO you don't need to 'get around' returning a destination record; as they have completed their programme for 22/23 a destination record is expected.
You can return destination records up until R14 in October for 22/23.
When you re-enrol them in Sept. you can add a destination record for 22/23 (with code EDU4). If they don't return you can contact them to find out where they have ended up and return a the relevant code for their actual destination.

For all our students completing one programme in a given year, who we know to be returning to us for another year (either staying in FE or progressing to HE/Apps) we bulk create destination records to say exactly that. We also do a mop up of ones that did return, when we weren't expecting them, and add destinations for them too. It's still a destination, even if it's with us again.

All aims closed for 22/23 but learner is returning 23/24

Advice please! 16-19 High Needs/EHCP funded learners, we have several who we have recorded as completing all their aims on ILR (correctly), so reports are expecting a destination record. With how most Local Authorities fund our High Needs students it's only a year at a time, so now they have agreed another year (23/24) learner will be returning. To get round the destination record I usually open a new non-accredited aim starting this July, finishing next July, so ILR "knows" they are returning. Any advice if that is correct way to deal with or other suggestions?
