There's guidance you need to follow if you find a date was wrong in a previous year;

You must never change dates between years without following those steps. Like Philip says, if it's funded, you'll have given yourself a withdrawal by breaking the record into two separate things, as they match on dates.

How strict is that 'must not' when it's just a warning?
I'm in a situation where the dates we returned last year are factually incorrect, this year we are returning the correct actual end date.
