23/24 - Students wanting to re-enrol on same A-Levels

Created

None

If a previous 16-18 year old student returns for the new academic year wanting to re-enrol on the same course, for example AS or A2 subjects where they achieved a grade E or above, would they be funded for the qualification again if they want to enrol again in the hope to achieve a higher grade?

If this is allowed, what sort of evidence would the FE Provider need for this? We have a previous student who has mental health issues and another with dyslexia who would like the opportunity to improve their grades.

If it's on a case by case basis what range of reasons would be acceptable for the ESFA, such as change of career or health issues etc?

"Good Educational Reasons" which should be learner-specific and only a small proportion of your learners (which was kind of quantified during Covid as 5%, although that had been the "nod and a wink" value for years).

We do use that "Good Educational Reasons" for A Levels most years, and I ask them to fill in a form. It's really simple, but we then store it as evidence. I ask for specific details, like "I need grades A A B to get into X university" or "I had x extenuating circumstances last year".
