NO Number on FIS / ILR

Hi all,

Hope you can help. If a learner accessed AEB funding under the unemployment offer, hence having to provide their National Insurance Number, does that get cross referenced when the ILR is run.

i.e. if a learner put an incorrect NI number, would the system know / pick it up / report on it?

I've never heard that it does that. I think it's something they did plan to do (hence asking us to collect NI numbers for anyone unemployed), but never have yet. I believe they're going to start cross referencing NI numbers for apprentices some time.

Yeah, nothing for AEB. NINO kind of helps with the data that feeds into the FE version of LEO but given the amount of fuzzy matching they do on it, is pretty much useless? Also, don't forget that people can, fairly legitimately, have two NINOs...

I'd argue, given the integrations with the Apprenticeship Service, that even recording NINO for Apps is Data We Don't Need In The ILR (it's not used for DLOCK matching, is it?) and, on the incredibly slim chance that they actually ask providers what should/shouldn't be in, following the commitment to look (again) at ILR fields, I've already got my response for this one ;)
