OTJ

Sorry if I'm about to ask a really dumb question.

Is there a maximum number of OTJ hours an apprentice is allowed to record weekly?

A colleague has advised one of our apprentices that he can only record 8 hours per week as this represents 20% of his contractual hours per week. He is now confused, as he attends college for 8 hours per week and is now concerned he wont be able to record anything else per week.

Can anyone advise?

Thank you, Kelly.

No more than their 'normal working hours' would allow? If an apprentice worked 37.5 hours a week and their employer let them dedicate every single one to off-the-job that week, I don't see why they couldn't. Any more than that and there'd be an issue with them doing stuff 'out of hours'.

I think your colleague is confusing the minimum required with what is maximally allowed, IMO.

No, you should record everything that counts towards the App, there is no maximum (also handy if someone, um, tails off a bit towards the end...)?

You and I have a habit of this Steve Hewitt..

That's reassuring - thank you both.
