Retention of ESFA funded apprenticeship - paper records/files

Created

Hi there,

We have historic paper records (wet signature) files for ESFA funded apprenticeships from years ago... I am trying to find out if we need to keep these securely stored away, or if it's time that we can now safely/securely destroy the evidence.

The guidance i've had from the ESFA is as below...

Learner files should be retained securely for 6 years from Financial Year End after end of course or until 31/12/2030 if ESF-funded provision.

The paper files were back from the time that we included the ESF logo on the apprenticeship paperwork... hope this doesn't sound silly, but I assume this means they were then ESF funded and we need to retain the documents/files until 31/12/2030?

I've been looking into this myself lately, the guidance is nightmarishly long and convoluted. From what I gather you are correct. If someone else has a better understanding of exactly which categories of specific funding are eligible for ESF match funding that would be great.

I have also been trying to find clear guidance on this.  Hoping someone has the answers.
