16-19 FIS reports

Created

Hi,

I'm interested to know how the "total funding" figure is calculated in the 16-19 Summary of Funding by Student Report. I naively assumed it incorporated a programme cost weighting per student, but it doesn't seem to. Are there any technical guidance documents explaining how FIS calculates this?

Thanks

Stephen

Feel slightly cheeky nicking Ben James's link from yesterday on a related matter, but here:

oh no, wait, that doesn't have the calc in, just tells you what it counts...

I've reversed engineered it from the table in the FIS export before, but you only get one Overall Cost Weighting Factor, it's not generated at learner level (because it was two year's ago learners who gave you this year's value).

What's a government funding reports guidance document between friends, eh?

nr = National Rate (for the learners GLH)

rf = Retention Factor (allocation)

pc = Programme Cost Weighting (allocation)

ac = Area Cost Allowance (allocation)

dp = Disadvantage Proportion (allocation) %

lp = Large Programme Proportion (allocation) %

me = Level 3 Programme Maths and English Proportion (allocation) %

nr X rf X pc X ac X (1+dp) X (1+lp) X (1+me) thanks to Luke Burns for posting this originally on CMIS, though I had already reverse engineered myself, I have re- worked the formula but gives same result.

Most of the factors are in the header of the report or refer to allocation toolkit.
