LRS – Summer GCSE & A/AS Level Results 2024

Hi All,

It’s that time of year again for updates on loading of results to the Learning Records Service.

We know how vital the timeliness of results in LRS is to reducing admin burden of enrolment and this year we have been working with the Awarding Organisations to gain earlier sight of the results.  To facilitate this LRS has introduced new functionality to allow the AOs to embargo results and so start loading their results earlier.

Last week received 800k A/AS Level results, some of which were loaded under embargo and were ready to be made available on results morning.  The remaining results were loaded and available within the next couple of days.

GCSEs are next and LRS already holds over 1.6m results ready to be released tomorrow morning, on or by 11am, with more being loaded as I type.  A big thank you to the AOs that have supported this process.

Other qualification types (eg BTECs) are also being loaded, some of which are also under embargo for release tomorrow morning.

Typically, we expect to see around 5.5 million GCSE and A/AS Level results loaded to LRS each year and we are monitoring progress carefully.

I hope to post another update tomorrow as the results are being released.

I know this is now standard practice, but it's still categorically the biggest move forward in the usefulness of LRS data and still, I think, deserves our thanks to the team for making sure this happens :)

Hello Everyone,

Just a little update on progress, by 11am this morning we had released 2.2 million GCSE results to the PLR.

Some AOs have completed their GCSE uploads by mid-morning and the rest of the results are still being loaded.

We have received over 3 million results across all qual types so far this week.

Hi,

Good work! Am I right in thinking we might still be missing AQA results? Any idea when more will be available?

Thanks

Stephen

Morning Stephen Beckingham,

It appears that it's predominately AQA that are outstanding, but they are loading.  As there is no embargo in place now, once we've processed each batch the results are immediately available on the PLR.

Hi Andy

Just wondered how AQA are doing as we can't see any of their results on LRS yet?

Many thanks

We're still missing some odds and ends. AQA, but also Film Studies which I'm told was Pearson.

Andy (EFSA) We've noticed that WJEC is reporting their Welsh aim code to the LRS. All their aims have a LARs aim ref, and a Welsh version that begins with a C. They're reporting the code that begins with C (and is only relevant in Wales) to the LRS database that is used across the UK. Since they do have a LARs code, it would be much more helpful if they submitted their data with that. Can ESFA push for them to do that next year? Is it possible for someone to bulk update the existing PLR data from WJEC to the UK wide codes, not the Welsh ones? It looks like they used the UK wide codes until 2020. I can find PLR data for this spec GCSE with the aim code 60182350 for students who achieved in 2019, but then the exact same aim achieved from 2020 onwards is in the PLR as C0007800 instead. It makes it quite tricky to do a few things, plus I imagine it stops some ESFA reports working too.
