Apprentice made redundant at EPA stage

Created

If an apprentice is made redundant during EPA, do they have to be made a withdrawal in the ILR? The funding rules only relate to the practical period regarding redundancy but it feels such a shame that the learner cannot complete their apprenticeship due to no employer at this late stage. Any advice?

Would depend primarily on what the EPA plan said, I think. Could they do EPA without an employer? If so.. then technically they have completed more than 75% of the practical period (100 > 75, after all). In that sense I'd argue they could still do it?

I take it we would miss out on the completion payment or if we updated the ILR to reflect the redundancy, would the ESFA still fund that?

You should still get the completion payment from the ESFA if you update it to reflect the redundancy.

I'm with Ben on this, 100% is greater than 75%, so this is fine (presuming they can complete the EPA without access to the workplace etc).

That's great! Thanks both for your advice. Much appreciated.
