Closing off a DAS record with an employer that has shut down

Created

None

We have found ourselves in a slightly unusual situation, an apprentice was made redundant last month, and a couple of weeks later we reached out to the employer to close off the apprentices DAS record, only to find out the employer had gone bust and liquidated. As a result, no one has access to their DAS account. How can we go about closing off the existing DAS record so we can set one up with the new employer they are due to start with?

We also received the second 16-18 incentive for this learner last month, but we can't give it to the previous employer as they no longer exist. Do we just keep the £500, or give it to the new employer?

Call the Apprenticeship Service. I think they shut one down for us when we could show on Companies House (or similar) that they no longer existed.

I'd also ask them about that payment while you're speaking to them.

As Ruth says, the Apprenticeship Service will be able to shut it down for you but it may take a few weeks for them to do so.

We had a similar situation a few months back including that of the inventive payment.  We were informed by the ESFA Service desk to return the £500 Employer Contribution via the EAS.
