Changing to a lower level Apprenticeship

Created

Morning,

I hope somebody can help, we have a learner who has been on a level 3 Apprenticeship for about 5 months but is struggling with it and is at risk of withdrawing unless we can transfer them to a level 2 instead. When looking at RPL for the L2 requirements, it could work out that the minimum duration would fall under 12 months for the L2, would the time they spent on the L3 count towards the overall Apprenticeship duration and prevent them being ineligible?

Thanks

Steve

I don't think you can do that 🙁 You can't back date the start of the Level 2 as everything needs signing before the start. The L2 duration will have to be at least a year, and you're not allowed to artificially lengthen the apprenticeship if the RPL would take your normal duration below a year. I'd definitely double check the Skills Scan and make sure everyone agrees that the student really does have as much prior KSB for the Level 2 as has been assessed.
